Nescafe and gearing up for great things, the 16th

Woke to Bruce knocking.. time for a swim! We go down to the beach and dive in to a crisp blue Indian Ocean. To think, 8 hours by plane due west is the southern coast of Africa...what a way to start the day!
So upon return I get going with a Nescafe...got to have the coffee as they prefer tea...and then sit down to talk strategy.

Per the usual, plans are fluid. Safi is planning on staying at least a week longer than I, doing editing and final video/photo prep. More time is best.

Thoughts before sleep, the 15th

Heading to bed here in Oz. Not quite sure where I am in the sense of time, but with Bruce and Anne we are getting things off to a very good start. Today was spent running errands, collecting gear we all will need on the days to come.

All is super but a bit challenging as the cyclones are brewing off the coast of Darwin. Already some of the roads we will be traveling have been shut to all but 4 wheelers... and we'll be in a big rig. Added drama helps, eh?

Over a stunning lasagna we drank vino and discussed Papua New Guinea, The Japanese Invasion, the Nagasaki Peace Park and the terrors of war in general. Issues of inequity as well as the ways even an individual can set about things to help move into better places...

Fatigue hits...I think..roll with it and go to bed soon.

I am up at 6:30am for a run to the beach and a swim in the Indian Ocean to get my body clock in Dreamtime.

Cheers!

Feb. 15th

So in front of me I have a bowl full of guac, no onions. Bruce had a mountain of them ready…I had to express kind of immediately my dislike of your favorite tuber. Glad to get that out of the way. But most of all want to get you up to speed on the first legs of the journey..

Oh, the joys and discomforts of travel. In my case mostly joys, and once checked in with bags thru to Perth I could relax. Mom and Dad drove me in and that helped tremendously... then it was all over the ride.

Atlanta to LA sat next to a guy who does advertising and social media for NASCAR.. go figure! Then the LA Sydney I sat next to a real cool young couple, he a builder and she just finishing up Uni in Poly Sci from Sydney. Already there is lots of interest in the project.

Then Sydney to Perth...who am I in front of but a whole row of Italians!

So abbiamo parlato in italiano per quasi 4 ore…Gonzissimo!

DreamTime Begins

Safi and I arrived in Sunny Perth today, both blessed with flights that were long but uneventful in the right ways. Bruce picked us up, gave a guided tour back to their place where I am set up in an 'office' guest room..quite nice.. and a computer for emailing....I will be able to send tons of updates from here.

Off to eat some fresh guacamole and beers....then it'll be nap time I'm sure.
